Choose the bigger life

Tag number: #19138

I am the very start of this Compass’ journey. Having traveled all over the world (even making it to all seven continents), I’ve had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and experience so many different cultures/mindsets. It has provided me with a profound sense of empathy for and connection with people completely different from me, and I have every intention of continuing to explore even more. This Compass serves as a reminder to myself to “choose the bigger life”, which can mean whatever you’d like it to, and for me that means saying yes to the things that genuinely excite me (trusting that I’ll be able to “make it work” with my other obligations), but even more so saying yes to the things that seem scary/uncomfortable/hard that I know make for a good story to tell. I know I’m far more likely to regret the things I didn’t do than the things I did, so I may as well push myself to “choose the bigger life”. The Compass also serves as a reminder that for all the things I am experiencing or going through in my life, every single person I come across have their own things they have to shoulder, and it will serve me well to always remember that and act with kindness, no matter how I feel, even for the random stranger I’ll never see again.
