My mother bought this bracelet for me before one of the biggest periods of change in my life, as I am preparing to leave home and move across the country for college. I’ve always been a small-town girl; in fact, most places I’ve ever lived have been classified as villages. NMU feels big.
I’ve thought a lot about those who have shaped me in life to this point. Those who have supported me through auditions, scholarships, performances, ups, downs, moments when I doubted myself, and the wins in life. Their encouragement has helped me become the person I am today. That’s what I think of when I think of kindness—those people who stick with you wherever you are. To me, this bracelet is a reminder to carry that same kindness wherever life leads me. When I pass it on, I want to be able to follow not only where it goes, but also what it does. But I want to see the love in the lives of the people who keep it.
Now I live in Eagle Nest, NM. In a month, I will be living and attending school at Northern Michigan University. I’m pursuing my degree in Musical Theatre, and I’m ridiculously excited. But there’s a lot of me who doesn’t want to leave my life and friends behind.
