My bracelet was given to me by an old friend. We actually attended boot camp together about 30 years ago but didn’t become friends until training afterwards. Our friendship had ups and downs but it is true and lasting . Now after over 24 years of Naval service and losing my beloved husband Pete, I have finished my Master of Divinity Degree. The celebration I saw in my minds eye with a grand ceremony with classmates, faculty, family and friends was a shadow due to the world wide Covid pandemic of 2020. So now it is ONWARD. This summer I will study for ordination and in the fall move to another state to begin my 1 year residency. At 52 years old I just look back and see there has been many chapters with ebbs and flows – peaks and valleys. Strangely, despite the love of friends and family, and though excited about what comes next I miss what I had. A husband who though not perfect loved me. I miss that love – his love. But he left me 5 step kids and now 5 grand kids that are truly mine. So I look and move ONWARD – to what comes next. And by the grace of God who lavishes his love on me will hold me and guide me as I move ONWARD to the next chapter in my life.
