I just moved to Denver from NYC for grad school – a cross-country move in my late 20s to a place I’ve only visited once before and don’t know many people! Which makes it an exciting and scary new adventure. During my first month here, my dear friend from childhood who used to live just a few blocks from me in NYC visited and gifted me this bracelet. I was so touched by her kindness in thinking of me and sharing time with me in a new city, and it gave me confidence in exploring my new area and starting to find ways to make it my home. Those small moments where you show someone you’re thinking of them can be such impactful kindnesses.
To me, the Compass bracelet means sharing your adventures with others. Lindsey gifted me a little piece of home along with a reminder that we’ve made these big moves before – from Texas to New York, New York to Colorado – and can be surrounded by community even when it’s from afar. I’m excited to make new memories here with my bracelet and to eventually pass it on to someone who is at the start of a journey of their own!
