I have stage IV colon cancer. As a result, friends and family are making an effort to see me. When my aunt and mother were visiting recently, we went to the botanical gardens. It started pouring rain while we were there, so we headed into the gift shop. I saw a display with the compass bracelets and was initially attracted by their appearance. I bought one for myself. As I thought more about the bracelet and the precarious health situation I am in, the bracelet began to take on more meaning. I now see it as a way to continue on after I am gone.
