Living my Aunt Clara’s Legacy

Tag number: #6070

I first encountered Compass Bracelets while visiting my son near Steamboat Springs, CO. I saw a display of them at a little shop in town and was intrigued, so I visited the website and adored the concept. I immediately ordered one for myself and 10 more to give as gifts. I love how contagious kindness is and how, because of the amazing ripple effect, one small act of kindness can ultimately impact so many. I recently lost my 103 year old Great Aunt Clara. She lived independently, walked over a mile a day, and was an active volunteer in her community until she broke her hip a few months ago. As she bounced back and forth between the hospital, rehab, and long-term care, I marveled at how, despite various medical issues, her attitude remained unfailingly positive. She showed the same respect and expressed the same appreciation to everyone who walked through her door, greeting them with a smile and a kind word, whether it was a doctor or someone emptying her trash. Because of her strong belief that the purpose of life is to serve others, she was frustrated by being confined to her bed and questioned why she was still here if she couldn’t serve. I reminded her often that she had no idea how much she may be impacting others, simply by showing them kindness. She was an inspiration who spread her light to everyone she met, and she was an amazing example of what it means to truly live with a kind & loving heart. I’m looking forward to passing my bracelet along to someone who shares this same spirit!
