I received this bracelet as a gift from my mother-in-law in 2016…Christmas Eve to be exact. It is now September 2020, and as step 4 instructs, “When you find the right person, or the time is right, share the love and pass your bracelet along…”
Well, almost 4 years later, both the person and the time is right. I’m sharing the love and passing bracelet 1664 to Bond. Megan Bond. 🙂
Megan is an incredible human being, and she inspires me to make the world a better place. I think that’s what these Compass bracelets are all about…the mission of connecting our stories, because connecting and sharing our stories is what makes us uniquely human, and it’s what breeds compassion and empathy. The world may need that now more than ever, as we are in the midst of a global pandemic. I am a kinder, more thoughtful, more mindful and more grateful person with her in my life. She turned the big 4-O this month, and I really wanted to get her something special…something unique and thoughtful, something that was just RIGHT for her. I’ve been looking for awhile as I knew this day was coming, and tonight it hit me. The bracelet. It’s the perfect gift for Megan.. She embodies kindness, it radiates from everything she does both in her job as a teacher and her unpaid work as a dear friend!! I’ve had the privilege of being her teaching assistant in grade 4 at The American School in London for 3 years. She is the real deal, an educator who cares so deeply about each child in her class…she gives and give and gives. Not only to her students though, but to her friends, her family, her partner, her colleagues, and on and on. Sometimes a person comes into your life and just being in their presence elevates you…Megan is that person to me. She inspires me to be my best self, because that’s what she expects of herself. This expectation isn’t crushing though, she doesn’t shame or judge, she just support and loves, and asks really great questions. In addition to being a teacher, Megan is a gifted writer. With school demanding so much of her time and energy though, I know this passion and gift often gets pushed to the back burner…can this bracelet spark and encourage her to write more? That is my hope, for the world needs her voice, her compassion, and her unwritten words of wisdom.
Write, Megan.
And, then when you think you’re done…
write more.
May this be the beginning of your next chapter.
