Two days ago I lost my dad. I am feeling so tender today as I fly back to Maryland after spending his last days with him. He was already in an “in between” place when I arrived in California, but I got to tell him one more time how much I love him, and to reassure him that I will be okay when he goes. After five years of hard health setbacks and struggles, I want him to feel peace. We watched the Twins vs Rangers game (Twins won 10-2!), listened to Beach Boys music, laughed and cried together. I found this Compass bracelet in a gift shop in the Phoenix airport on my layover. It’s been a teary-eyed journey so far and I was seeking a source of hope to guide me home. My tenderness comes from this grief- the love that has nowhere to go now. And the gratitude I have for being loved so hard by my dad.
