I received my bracelet as a Christmas gift from my sister who lives in Wilmington, NC. I am a pediatric nurse who has advocated for foster children and I hope this brings awareness for the need we have for mentors in the foster care program.

Like most people in the islands I have multiple jobs and hobbies, among them I'm a waitress at a restaurant called Napua. Last weekend I was working back to back doubles in the midst of the holiday craze, while rehearsing for a performance and juggling moving into a new space after just returning from a five month journey. I try to stay positive and have an attitude of gratitude but sometimes that outlook can get shaken in the service industry. On this particular Saturday I happened to wait on a really sweet family and we had great conversation about the island and what to do on their vacation. Later in the day Kelli came back and gifted me this bracelet and told me the story behind it. I was so moved by the concept, and it was so beautiful to get this amazing affirmation that simple kindness is appreciated, noticed, and felt. Her gesture, and this bracelet got me through a rough weekend of doubles and is such a lovely reminder that joy prevails. xx
