Teaching and Learning

I saw this bracelet in the town I live in and I thought it was awesome that some of the proceeds went to children who have never had a birthday party before.  I love buying things that go to a good cause.  I didn't buy it then thought.  A few months went by and I received it as a gift from my boyfriend.  He knows how much I like giving to good causes. I think it is so cool to pass something around like this because it is a reminder that there is still good out there.  Kindness is extremely important because there is not too much of it these days.  There is so much violence going around in today's world that people are forgetting what it means to be kind. The Compass Bracelet means to inspire others, to be true to myself, and follow my heart.  I try to do this all the time but it will be nice to have  bracelet as a nice reminder.

I was just given my compass by graduate student I am fortunate enough to have as on of my students and peers. This bracelet is a wonderful reminder that the journey of becoming a teacher (which never ends) is about learning from each and every one of your students and experiences. Learning is what makes you grow and what keeps the joy in teaching.
