Paying it forward

# 2181

I purchased this compass bracelet over the weekend in a neat shop on the riverfront in downtown Wilmington NC.  I’ve lived here for 23 years now and I am always in awe of our beautiful downtown area.  While going back to school in 2001 to become a Dental Hygienist I took some big risks for me.  I quit a job with a 2 year old son and one due in 2002.  I was admitted to the program and graduated with the help of my husband, family and friends in 2004.  While in school I received a scholarship named the Doris Eakes “Pay It Forward” scholarship and I have made it my goal over the years to Pay It Forward whenever I could.

I actually purchased this bracelet for the Doctor that I work for.  I went to work for his practice in the Fall of 2004 and he is the only Dentist that I have worked for since then.  November will mark 13 years of employment for me and this Friday the 13th is his birthday.  I would tell you all of the blessings this job has brought to me and my family but it would take much too long.  My doc embraces life in a way that not many people do and I love hearing his stories of adventure.  I feel confident that this bracelet will share an exciting adventure when he passes it along and I look forward to reading about them over the years.  Blessings to you!
